I've spent a summer in Madrid and I always used Internet cafes to check my email. I know this great place called Nets on Calle Palma that charges around 2 E an hour for internet access. The place is open even on sundays. There's also the Work Center internet cafe that is open around the clock. it's on Calle Principe.
